New York has always been ahead of the curve. Now it has the data to prove it. According to Feeld’s latest global map of desire, New York City has the fastest-growing bisexual population in the world, with bisexual identification up 161 percent in the past year.
In a city that already prides itself on being open-minded, that number still lands with a thud.
The findings come from Feeld Raw 2025, the dating app’s annual deep dive into how people are actually defining their sexuality when nobody’s policing the language. The big takeaway isn’t just “more bisexuals.” It’s that fewer people are interested in neat labels at all. Globally, “heteroflexible” is the fastest-growing identity on the app, up 193 percent, and New Yorkers are right at the center of that shift.
This isn’t some sudden awakening. It’s people finally admitting what’s always been true. As Dr. Luke Brunning, an ethics lecturer who consults on the report, notes, attraction doesn’t move in straight lines, and it never really has.
The data shows that clearly. One of the most common shifts on Feeld is users moving between straight and heteroflexible, sometimes back and forth. Millennials lead the trend, with Gen Z close behind.
New York makes this easier than most places. It’s big enough to disappear in and crowded enough to realize you’re not alone.
